What is C.I.T.E?

C.I.T.E. is Anglia Examinations' Certificate for International Teachers of English ANGLIA EXAMINATIONS ENGLAND. This qualification is designed to provide English language teachers with an international recognition of their skills, knowledge, and experience in the English language.

C.I.T.E functions in the same way as any other standardized English language test, with a specific purpose — in this case, the purpose is English language teaching.

    What criteria are required to enter the C.I.T.E test?

    No criteria are required to enter the test for C.I.T.E. Although you may have had other qualifications before none of them are required. The test for C.I.T.E can be taken by current English teachers or students who want to become teachers in the future.

      What level of English do you need?

      To become an English language teacher, a certain level of English proficiency is required. Teaching young learners and teaching higher levels or adults requires different levels of English, both in theory and in practice. For this reason, candidates are offered two versions of the C.I.T.E test: 'Young Learners' and 'General Training'.

      For the C.I.T.E Young Learners test, a minimum of B2 level according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is required for the candidate taking the test. For the C.I.T.E (General Teaching) test, the candidate must have a C1 level according to the CEFR. The C.I.T.E (General Teaching) test requires knowledge of grammatical terms and functions in English, along with the English language used in teaching.

        What preparation is necessary for the examination?

        Once the candidate has completed the registration form for the C.I.T.E test, the preparatory materials for the test version of his choice will be forwarded. The candidate will accept: Test syllabus, Sample test (test test) and test test solutions (KEY).

          Examination process

          The C.I.T.E test is conducted in electronic format (computer-based) in two options as follows:

          • Online at the testing center (Pristina)
          • Online remotely (additional fee of €30)

          Information about the testing session is sent to the candidate's email after registration.

          The test is conducted through the official portal of Anglia Examinations England, and before candidates take the test, they will receive information about their login credentials for accessing the testing portal. Candidates will also receive a user guide for using the testing portal prior to the test session.

          The C.I.T.E test lasts 3 hours.

            Results and Certificates C.I.T.E

            The results are sent electronically to the email provided during the application.

            Duration of results:

            Regular procedure - 5-6 weeks after receiving the tests at the control center in Chichester, England
            Fast Track Service – 10-15 days after the completion of the test – Additional fee of €40

            Note: The duration of receipt of certificates varies, and may take up to 8 weeks after completion of testing.

            The electronic certificate can be delivered in a shorter time frame upon special request from the candidate, with an additional fee of €10.
